Please provide me with a list of the mandatory trainings that a COR must accomplish to become/maintain COR responsibilities. From this list, which of these mandatory trainings contain information regarding a CURE Notice? Could you specify specific location to include page number? Thanks, Martina Shipman (804) 794-1489

    Answer

Unfortunately the list of “mandatory trainings” depends on the contract type and subject matter of the contract.  A good place to start for determining that is with your Contracting Officer.

I can provide you the “minimum” training requirements; these are:

Type A contracts:  CLC 106 Contracting Officer’s Representative with a Mission focus, Annual Acquisition Ethics Training (CLM 003), and Combatting Trafficking in Human Persons (CTIP)

Type B & C contracts: CLC or COR 222 Contracting Officer’s Representative Course, Annual Acquisition Ethics Training (CLM 003), and Combatting Trafficking in Human Persons (CTIP)

See Appendix C of the new Department of Defense COR Handbook dated March 22, 2012 for additional guidance on COR qualifications and training.  A copy of the HDBK can be found at:

    Information Regarding a Cure Notice:
    CLC 106: see Lesson 8, page 35
    CLC 222: see Lesson 10, page 28
COR HDBK: see pages 86 and 87
Federal Acquisition Regulation: see FAR 49.402-3 and 49.607, and 12.403 (for commercial contract format).

Please note: we do hope personnel conduct at least a bit of preliminary research prior to submitting a question to “ask-a-professor”.
