Per my crimp ring engineering drawing, should the material of the crimp ring be in accordance with AMS 4558 Rev G or the original AMS 4558 which was issued in May 1, 1948? The engineering drawing of the crimp ring specifies that the material of the crimp ring as Brass Tubing, 0.406 O.D. x 0.014 wall per AMS 4558.

    Answer

The current contract cannot be altered without the consent of the contractor, without some compelling reason.

Future contracts would require study to determine if it is best to use Rev G,
or use the original AMS 4558.

It would be necessary to determine the differences between Rev G and the
    original.

It would be necessary to determine if the supplier market could still provide
    support for the original.

It would be necessary to determine if the application still needs the
original, or could transition to Rev G.
