Other than FAR 52.225-14 INCONSISTENCY BETWEEN ENGLISH VERSION AND TRANSLATION OF CONTRACT (FEB 2000) Are there any other significant references in the FAR that address the preparation of Solicitations or Contracts in languages other than English?

    Answer

Yes, there are several other references that you should be aware of. In addition, please note that this list may not be all inclusive and you should consult with your Contracting Officer and legal counsel if you have any questions.

Relative to the FAR, you should also become familiar with FAR 52.214-34 and 52.215-1. Both of these provisions  require offerors to submit their offers in English. The provision you use is dependent on the method of contracting you intend to use, Sealed Bidding or Contracting by Negotiation.

Relative to the DFARS, the clause at DFARS 252.225-7041 requires that all contract correspondence that is addressed to the US Government be submitted in English or with an English translation.

Finally, be aware of what individual provisions or clauses contained in your solicitation and/or contract may require. For example, FAR 52.227-13 and DFARS 252.227-7038 are both clauses relative to Patent Reports that require a report and address the possibility of languae issues relative to the submission of the report. There may be other clauses that also address this issue.
