    Since we are changing the service levels the we need to add another code item to the Sub-ELIN to reflect the old values and the new values. What would be next? Would it be another number, such as C005AA01? Is there such a thing as a Sub-Sub-ELIN/CLIN? There isn't any guidance in the DFARS PGI 204_71. Thank you.

    The following answer is based solely on the background information provided,  and the phone-con that was conducted with the submitter, as we do not have all the facts pertaining to your contract.  Since we do not have access to the contract folder or program particulars that apply to this situation, we highly recommend you consult the Contracting Officer as well as the Legal Office as  applicable.
     
    Per our phone-con, you explained the following references to explain the way  your ELIN was built: Client level - per customer; ELIN level - service level; sub-ELIN - level of service.  What you are trying to establish is a way to identify how the deductions are accounted for as you change the service levels.
     
    You questioned whether or not you can establish a sub-Sub-ELIN/CLIN.  You are correct in stating that there is no guidance in the DFARS for numbering at this level, therefore you cannot use this numbering for the ELIN. In order to use an Exhibit per DFARS PGI 204.7104-2 (c), a contract subline should already have been established.  The DFARS allows you to append an Exhibit, but for traceability/tracking purposes that you are trying to establish, I recommend  that you use an informational subline per DFARS 204.7104-1 or refer to DAFARS 204.7106 (b) that deals with contract modifications to include modifications  to exhibits.  These are two recommendations, but creating an unauthorized numbering system is not a advised.
