Why is the current federal acquisition circular have a 2005 date?

    Answer

The forward of the current FAR states, “This March 2005 edition is a complete reissue of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).”

This is what was published when they reissued it in 2005:

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Periodically, the FAR is reissued because of administrative necessity -- headers and change bars are removed. A FAR reissue does not revise the FAR language, but the flow of the context changes. Therefore, users are required to refer to this latest version (current through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2001-27 <http://www.fedgovcontracts.com/pe04-227.htm>).

All Federal Acquisition Circulars (FAC) until the next reissue are numbered 2005-XX, on line the current FAC is 2005-84, dated 3 Sep 2015.
