Where can we find a good Demand Forecasting Model?

    Answer

There are several references that should aid in the forecasting process.  Recommend reviewing the Department of Defense Inventory Management Improvement Plan dated Oct 2010 at

    http://www.acq.osd.mil/log/SCI/.inventory_mgmt.html/Comp_Invent_Mgmt_Improv_Plans/DoD_CIMIP_Oct2010.pdf

and Department of Defense Manual 4140.01 DoD Supply Chain Materiel Management Procedures Demand and Supply Planning, dated Feb 10, 2015 at

    https://www.dtic.mil/whs/directives/corres/pdf/414001m/414001m_vol01.pdf

    .

Every service utilizes service specific demand forecasting models.  NAVAIR has several Readiness Based Sparing models.  The Army's Logistics Support Activity (LOGSA) in Huntsville, Alabama has a spares model, SESAME.  Both can be accessed on line.

Recommend that your higher headquarters or your PEO be contacted for guidance on which model to use.
