What parameters define a business unit.....Seperate DUNS # ,Cage code. distinct accounting system etc,etc.
Answer
The definition of "business unit" in DoD's "Other Transactions Guide for Prototype Projects" is "Any segment of an organization, or an entire business organization which is not divided into segments." CAGE codes are based on physical location whereas DUNS numbers are normally assigned at the lowest organizational level. Thus, DUNS would be better for identifying "business units."
