The period of performance should also be extended to accommodate the CLIN. While extending only the CLIN may be sufficient to protect the Government’s rights, extending the POP too would provide added assurance and possibly avoid any issues later on. Alternatively, if the contract includes the clause at 52.217-8 (Option to Extend Services), that can be used to extend performance.
