Specifically, I need to determine: 1. What elements comprise a cost model? 2. Is there a DAU template for cost modeling that I can use? 3. What are the recommended accessible sources for price/performance modeling?

    Answer

One good source for information on developing and evaluating cost estimating relationships is the Parametric Cost Estimating Handbook which is a by-product of the Parametric Cost Estimating Initiative and associated Parametric Estimating Reinvention Laboratory of the mid-1990's. The Handbook, now in its fourth edition, is the culmination of a joint industry and government collaboration involving organizations such as DCMA, DCAA, ISPA, MCR, Galorath, Price and others. The Handbook can be found at the ISPA website www.ispa-cost.org and will soon be available on the DAU Acquisition Community Connection.
