ACQuipedia - An Important Life Cycle Logistics Resource

Bill Kobren

Although relatively new, DAU has another great resource available we call ACQuipedia, an on-line acquisition reference encyclopedia. Over 130 articles have been posted thus far, including seventeen on the life cycle Logistics site, although this is just the start. Current Life Cycle Logistics articles currently include:

  1. Business Case Analysis
  2. Develop Initial Product Support Strategy
  3. Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS)
  4. DoD Logistics Human Capital Strategy (HCS)
  5. Elements of Product Support
  6. Evaluate Product Support Capabilities
  7. Item Unique ID (IUID)
  8. Level of Repair Analysis (LORA)
  9. Operations and Sustainment
  10. Post Deployment Review
  11. Post IOC Supportability
  12. Post Production Software Support Contract
  13. Product Support Integrator or Product Support Provider
  14. Product Support Package / PBL Implementation
  15. Product Support Package / PBL Management
  16. Product Support Plan (PSP)
  17. Set Product Support Strategy

Many more articles will follow. We encourage you to take advantage of the information available for these particular topics. Some are topic focused, while others are life cycle phase or process focused and linking to specific activities in the highly interactive Integrated Defense Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Life Cycle Management System Chart (a.k.a. Wall Chart). While many of the articles are written by DAU faculty, we encourage Life Cycle Logisticians across the Defense Acquisition Workforce to either suggest a topic on the site (click the “Suggest a Topic” button on the lower left side of the ACQuipedia homepage screen), or better yet, try your hand at writing an article on a topic related to our career field. We use a standardized format for articles which includes specific sections as follows: (1) Topic, (2) Definition, (3) General Information/Narrative, (4) Defense Acquisition Guidebook, Policies, Directives, Regulations, Laws, (5) Best Practices, Lessons Learned, Stories, Guides, Handbooks, Templates, Examples, Tools, (6) Communities Of Practice, (7) Training Resources, and (8) Related Articles. We would ask you to use this template for any ACQuipedia article submissions you submit.

Are you up to the challenge? Are you willing to assist others in the defense acquisition workforce by sharing your knowledge and expertise?
