Following up on a July 2018 Air Force Magazine article entitled “USAF to Stand up New Rapid Sustainment Office”, encourage life cycle logistics and product support professionals to take a look at a comprehensive article in their November 2019 issue entitled simply “Smart Sustainment”. According to the article, “Halfway through its two-year charter to quickly inject new technologies into Air Force maintenance, support, and repair, the Air Force’s Rapid Sustainment Office is doing what its creator, USAF acquisition chief Dr William Roper, had hoped.” These technologies include additive manufacturing, laser paint removal, and cold spray among others. Well worth the read in my opinion.
