Army Master Logistician Certificate Program

Bill Kobren
As I shared with the community last year in a blog post entitled “Army Master Logistician Program Officially Accredited”, the Army CASCOM Civilian Logistics Career Management Office (CLCMO) has teamed with Army Logistics University (ALU) and Defense Acquisition University (DAU) to provide training in support of their innovative ANSI-accredited Master Logistician Certificate Program.

DAU is proud to support this initiative which benefits both life cycle logisticians and non-acquisition coded Army logistics professionals. The Army Masters Logistician Program includes a number of our DAU life cycle logistics training courses including:
  • LOG 100 Life Cycle Logistics Fundamentals
  • LOG 104 Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM)
  • LOG 105 Fundamentals of System Sustainment Management
  • LOG 200 Product Support Strategy Development, Part A
  • LOG 201 Product Support Strategy Development, Part B
  • LOG 206 Intermediate Systems Sustainment
  • LOG 340 Life Cycle Product Support
  • LOG 350 Enterprise Life Cycle Logistics Management

For those who may not be aware of this Army program, wanted to provide a overview and quick update taken from their website: “the Department of Army Master Logistician Certificate Program, formerly known as the Logistics Management Specialist Certificate Program, builds and delivers multi-functional logisticians capable of planning and executing mission requirements in key Master Logistician positions across the Army enterprise.

The certificate program is designed to provide training and a career path for Department of the Army Civilian logisticians. Completion of the three-tiered certificate program - Foundation (GS-7 - 11), Intermediate (GS-12 - 13), and Advanced (GS-13 - 15) - provides the Army with validated multi-functional logisticians who are well trained and have experience in at least two of the three logistics functional areas: Supply Management, Materiel Maintenance Management, and Transportation and Distribution Management. Careerists who earn a Master Logistician Certificate at the Advanced Level will be a member of the Logistics Talent Pool and are eligible for Master Logistician designated positions throughout the Army.

The Master Logistician Certificate Program is accredited through the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and verifies that the certificate program meets rigorous standards similar to any university certificate program, and allowing the Master Logistician (ML) designation to be added to a careerists' signature block. The Civilian Logistics Career Management Office is accountable to ANSI for the integrity of the program to maintain national accreditation. ANSI accreditation and the Master Logistician Certificate Program provide the Army with professional civilian multi-functional logisticians by documenting excellence in education, training and career experience.”
