Are you involved in contract negotiations either as a contracting professional or negotiation team member from another acquisition functional area? If so, CCON 019 can equip you with the negotiating skills to more effectively reach mutually beneficial agreements with contractors, internal departments, colleagues, and other stakeholders. The credential requires completion of five courses: three online self-paced courses, one in-person classroom course, and one virtual instructor-led online course. Estimated time to complete the courses in the credential is approximately 30 hours, for which you would earn at least 33 continuous learning points (CLPs) towards the 80-hour CLP requirement.

The credential centers on the concept of Interest-Based Negotiating by focusing on finding creative, integrative solutions to satisfy each party's interests and needs so the Government achieves the best negotiated outcomes. You will plan for negotiations by understanding contractor motivations and prioritizing negotiating leverage. You will participate in interactive and dynamic "hands-on" negotiating exercises and apply collaborative, problem-solving techniques to realistic acquisition challenges. A bonus of completing the credential is you will be better prepared to negotiate with others in your own personal and professional relationships!
