In an October 21, 2016 memorandum entitled "2016 Secretary of Defense Product Support Manager Award Selections", the Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (AT&L) announced the winners of the 2016 Secretary of Defense Product Support Manager (PSM) Award. The winner in the Major Defense Acquisition Programs, Acquisition Categories (ACATs) ID or IC hailed from the United States Navy. In addition, the winner in the Major Weapon System/Other Weapon Systems (ACAT II and below) also came from the U.S. Navy.

According to the Undersecretary, “this prestigious award recognizes PSMs as important partners in providing the very best systems for our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines. It furthers the Defense Acquisition Workforce (DAW) vision of “creating a high quality, high-performing, agile defense acquisition workforce to achieve technological superiority and protect America's national security."

He went on to state that “the award winners will be recognized to the winners at the Spring 2017 Office of the Secretary of Defense Product Support Manager (PSM) Workshop followed by formal presentations at their commands. The 2017 PSM Workshop is anticipated to be held at the Defense Acquisition University at Fort Belvoir, Virginia at a date still to be announced.

The announcement memo also contains a summary of the recipients’ outstanding accomplishments which contributed to their selection as winners of this prestigious award.

This year marks the fourth year this important recognition has been awarded to the department’s top Product Support Managers. Congratulations and 'well done' to each of this year’s award winners!
