Over the last few years, Congress has been actively engaged in how DoD acquires space systems and operates them in space. Of course, the establishment of the Space Force in 2020 fundamentally reorganized DoD and put a spot light on space. In 2021 and 2022, Congress passed provisions to consolidate space acquisition and establish the Space Service Acquisition Executive (SAE). Congress is now trying to assess if those changes have indeed made space acquisitions more efficient. See the Space News article.
