DLA Takes Personal and Professional Resiliency to a New Level
I have long personally believed that resiliency is among the important character traits successful professional workforce members need to possess. The ability to bounce back following a setback, to respond professionally to challenging circumstances, or to handle adversity well are traits to be admired and emulated. In fact, I shared some thoughts on the subject back in June 2010 in an early blog post entitled simply “Resiliency”.
Recognizing the importance of resiliency within their own workforce, leadership at the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) have taken this to a new level, creating an DLA Resiliency website which contains a range of excellent resources on the subject.
In addition to defining resilience (as “…how one deals effectively with pressure, ambiguous and emerging conditions, and multiple tasks; remains optimistic and persistent, even under adversity or uncertainty. Recovers quickly from setbacks. Anticipates changes and learns from mistakes. Resiliency is the ability to function really well in the face of adversity.”), their website also contains some excellent resiliency resources along with a series of individual “Profiles in Resiliency” videos. The courage of individual workforce members taking the time to share personal examples of resiliency in a public forum is indeed impressive. Not to mention the fact that personal resiliency supports organizational resiliency, which in turn can contribute to overall organizational success.
Encourage you to take a few minutes to check out these and other resiliency resources available courtesy of our colleagues at the Defense Logistics Agency.
