In a November 19, 2018 memorandum entitled "2018 Secretary of Defense Product Support Manager Award Selections", the Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment announced the winners of the 2018 Secretary of Defense Product Support Manager (PSM) Award. The winner in the Major Defense Acquisition Programs, Acquisition Categories (ACATs) I hailed from the United States Air Force, as did the winner in the Major Weapon System/Other Weapon Systems (ACAT II and below).

According to the Undersecretary, “This award recognizes PSMs as key leaders in providing the very best product support for our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines. The award furthers the Defense Acquisition Workforce (DAW) vision of “creating a high quality, high-performing, agile DAW to achieve technological superiority and protect America’s national security.”

She goes on to state that “the award winners will be recognized at the 2019 Office of the Secretary of Defense Product Support Manager Workshop, followed by formal presentation of the award at their commands.” The 2019 PSM Workshop is tentatively scheduled for May 14-16, 2019 at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. The Undersecretary's announcement memo also contains a summary of the recipients’ outstanding accomplishments which contributed to their selection as winners of this prestigious award.

This year marks the sixth year this important recognition has been awarded to the department’s top Product Support Managers. Congratulations and 'well done' to each of this year’s nominees, and in particular, both of the award winners!
