DODIG Audit of Storage and Care of Repair Parts
The DoD Inspector General (DODIG) recently published a report (DODIG-2024-001) on their Audit of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA's) Storage and Care of Repair Parts and Components for Army Ground Combat Systems.
The objective of this audit was to determine whether DLA properly stored and cared for repair parts and components for Army Ground Combat Systems (GCS), such as gas turbine engines and transmission assemblies, in accordance with DoD policies and guidelines, such as DoD Manual 4140.01 Volume 5.
The DODIG made recommendations to the DLA Director to correct deficiencies identified in the report, update guidance for inspections and warehousing, and implement a formal training program. The report also recommended the Commanding General of the Army Tank-Automotive Armaments Command require materiel managers to conduct periodic visual inspections of GCS materiel in DLA storage.
