Wanted to pass on an announcement from our OUSD(A&S) Human Capital Initiatives (HCI) colleagues that reads in part: Continuing its practical-skills series Early Career Level Up “World of WriteCraft, the HCI team is once again opening the interactive (Q&A) webinar to those beyond the early career audience of its DCAIP (Defense College Acquisition Internship Program).

Scheduled for June 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. EDT, the next event features a very special guest: Linda Dent-Mitchell, Chief of Staff, Department of the Navy, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Manpower and Reserve Affairs). During the presentation Ms. Dent-Mitchell will share her tips for effectively conveying messages to senior leaders, and insights on how to speak convincingly to all government officials. (Essential messages, for good reason, those at DAU who recently attended the 2023 TEDx will recall as underlying themes to many of the sessions.)

“Ms. Dent-Mitchell’s expertise in communication has spanned from a traditional journalist and editor to revitalizing the communication and marketing of civilian careers within the Department of the Navy (DON). Her efforts for new campaigns to recruit college students, recent graduates and veterans to the Federal government for the DON, resulted in multiple industry awards,” says Katelyn Keegan, DCAIP Program Manager. She knows this well, having had the privilege of being at times both mentee and mentor to Ms. Dent-Michell in a unique two-way intergenerational working relationship that has informally developed over the years.

Keegan adds, “Ms. Dent-Mitchell’s knowledge and experience communicating across generations and with senior officials in government makes this session one that even seasoned Federal employees should not miss.”
