JKO Operational Contract Support (OCS) Training

As a follow-on to my December 8, 2022 DAU LOG Blog post entitled “New JKO Operational Contract Support (OCS) Training”, wanted to let the defense acquisition workforce know that our Joint Staff colleagues have deployed a new “Operational Contract Support (OCS) II – Fundamentals (Course Number J4OP-US3802)” training course, which is now available on Joint Knowledge Online (JKO).

This new online training course is the second in a planned suite of four OCS online courses. “As the second in the series, OCS II provides the doctrinal foundation to harness the potential commercial capability discussed in OCS I as contracted support. OCS II addresses the evolution, purpose, principles, authorities, and challenges of obtaining contracted support. The course outlines the processes and activities occurring within the three OCS subordinate functions which provide the ability to plan, procure, and manage integrated contracted support for supplies, services, and construction in support of combatant commander-directed operations. This course follows the first two chapters in Joint Publication 4-10, Operational Contract Support; the first three chapters in Multi-Service Tactics, Techniques and Procedures for Operational Contract Support (ATP 4-10/MCRP 4-11H/NTTP 4-09.1/AFTTP 3-2.41); as well as legal, policy, and other applicable issuances. OCS II prepares staff members to perform OCS-related roles and responsibilities and lays the foundation ahead of OCS III – Planning and Coordinating Responsibilities for Staffs, OCS IV – Planning and Executing Responsibilities for OCS Practitioners, and Joint OCS Planning and Execution Course (JOPEC).”

When completed in late-2023, this four-course JKO suite will include:

  • OCS I – Leveraging Commercial Capabilities Across the Competition Continuum
  • OCS II – OCS Fundamentals
  • OCS III – Planning and Coordinating Responsibilities for Staffs
  • OCS IV – Planning and Executing Responsibilities for OCS Practitioners

Additionally, our DAU contracting colleagues also offer a wide range of learning assets on the subject of contingency contracting, including:
