Quick reminder of today’s Tuesday June 6, 2023, 12:30 – 2:00 pm EDT DAU Great Power Competition webinar entitled “What to do when the SECDEF calls and mobilizes your program.” Encourage you to join us for this highly engaging and timely live professional development event.

Overview: The war in Ukraine has been testing the industrial base of the United States in recent months. The United States has provided lots of military aid in terms of artillery rounds, missiles, PATRIOT air defense systems and now M1A2 Tanks. We are rapidly expending artillery rounds, missiles and other materiel as highlighted in a recent CSIS article, "Empty Bins in a Wartime Environment" by Seth Jones. This webcast will highlight the actions taken by a couple Program managers that have been essentially mobilized due to the War in Ukraine. What does it take from an Industrial Base standpoint to go from 1X to 10X in a short period of time. Participants will include:
  • Moderator: DAU Professor Steven Karl
  • Mr. Jay Brannam, Executive Director, Munitions Industrial Base Task Force
  • COL Ryan Howell, Program Manager Main Battle Tank
  • Mr. Mike Kuenzli, Project Manager for Tactical Aviation and Ground Munitions

Background: This episode is the thirteenth in an ongoing DAU event series we call “Competing to Win”. Each event in our series asks, “What does this ongoing strategic competition mean for defense acquisition?” The panel will share their perspectives on, “What to do when the SECDEF calls and mobilizes your Program”. Our guests are ramping up their programs to meet the requirements to supply the Ukrainian Army with lethal capabilities to fight and win while also planning for other contingencies.
