Encourage you to take a minute to peruse this library of logistics-related presentations and interviews. Of particular note is the newly deployed, fast-paced, four minute overview of the Life Cycle Logistics career field. Under the Life Cycle Logistics Channel and then under the header “LOG Career Field”, this video provides insights into what Life Cycle Logistics is all about, the roles and responsibilities, and expectations of a Life Cycle Logistician, and perspectives from a variety of DoD members of this career field.
Two other excellent video interviews are in final stages of editing and are slated to deploy in the coming weeks – first, an interview with the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and Naval Inventory Control Point (NAVICP) team who devised and implemented the Navy’s Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) support arrangement, one of the earliest and most successful Performance Based Life Cycle Product Support (PBL) arrangements, and second, an interview with the late-Jerry Beck, former Navy and OSD logistician. His keen insights and expertise were based on more than 30 years of practitioner experience. A short six minute introductory video entitled Jerry Beck PBL Awards Video is already deployed and available. Taped just weeks before his death in 2008, the remainder of this particular interview will be available in the near future in six separate vignettes focusing on Mr. Beck's perspectives on designing for product support, Defense Acquisition Guidebook Chapter 5 guidance, translating logistics related requirements into affordable readiness, Performance Based Life Cycle Product Support (PBL), Diminishing Manufacturing Sources & Material Shortages (DMSMS) and Continuous Process Improvement (CPI), and “Pearls from a Senior Logistician.”
