Our Business, Financial Management and Cost Estimating colleagues here at DAU have deployed five new online-training courses in support of the Back-to-Basics launch last week. They include:
  • BCE 1000 Fundamentals of Cost Estimating. This is the foundational course for the Acquisition Cost Estimating Community. Students are introduced to policies and techniques used in DoD cost analysis. Topics include definition and planning of cost estimates, data collection and their sources, data normalization, risk and uncertainty, documentation requirements and budgeting considerations. The course also explores the four popular cost estimation techniques of analogy, parametric, engineering, and actual cost.
  • BCE 1700 Cost Assessment Data Enterprise (CADE) 101. Required for Business-Cost Estimating Practitioner certification, “…this course provides a dynamic, scenario-driven learning environment oriented towards developing the requisite skills and knowledge of cost data collection processes. It will provide a general overview of the policy, procedures and reports that inform the data collection process from the Cost Assessment Data Enterprise (CADE) database. BCE 1700 is broken up into seven different sections, requiring student to navigate through the entire data collection process, beginning with the fundamentals (policy, forms) and ending in a hands-on application of CADE.”
  • BCE 1710 Flex Files 101. This new course “… will provide an overview of the Cost and Hour Report known as FlexFile/Quantity Data Report used in Contractor Cost Data Reports (CCDRs). Individuals will experience hands-on exercises working with non-proprietary FlexFile data to gain experience and support informed decision making.”
  • BFM 1000 Fundamentals of Acquisition Financial Management. This new course “…delivers an immersive learning experience with a broad overview of the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process from a DoD Acquisition financial manager’s perspective. Learners are taught how the four PPBE phases are linked using an interactive and engaging integrated exercise and how to effectively manage and execute a program within the four phases.”
  • BUS 1100 Business Essentials. This new course “…introduces the learner to basic common terminology and concepts used in DoD acquisition financial management and cost analysis. The purpose of this course is to provide the financial managers’ and cost estimators’ with foundational knowledge of topics relating to requirements generation, financial management, cost estimating, ethics, EVM, and contracting.
