We’re pleased to announce the deployment of our newest online training course, LOG 0470 Sustaining Engineering. This new course replaces our now retired CLL 047 continuous learning module.

So what is this new training course about? Addressing the Sustaining Engineering Integrated Product Support (IPS) Element outlined in Appendix A of the DoD Product Support Manager’s Guidebook and the Sustaining Engineering competencies continued in the Defense Civilian Personnel Advisory Service (DCPAS) "Technical Report for the Life Cycle Logistics (LCL) Tier 2 Technical Competency Model" (August 2019), this course is intended to broaden the understanding of Sustaining Engineering (one of the 12 interdisciplinary Integrated Product Support (IPS) Elements) and how it can improve system supportability and reduce costs. It also focuses on developing a more granular support strategy in the Life Cycle Sustainment Plan (LCSP) and the linkage between systems/sustaining engineers and life cycle logisticians/product support managers. The target audience is the defense acquisition workforce, including, but not limited to DoD life cycle logistics and systems/sustaining engineering workforce members, as well as their industry counterparts.

This new LOG 0470 represents the twentieth of our revised/re-designated online-training (OLT) courses to have deployed, with more to follow going forward. They now include:

Additional details on our new training course numbering taxonomy are available in last week’s “Update on New DAU Logistics Course Numbering Taxonomy” DAU LOG Blog post.
