Wanted to take just a moment to let the defense acquisition workforce community in general -- and the life cycle logsitics functional area in particular -- know about the deployment of two new interdisciplinary DAU training courses:
  • ALD 0110 Leader’s Intent asynchronous online training course is for acquisition professionals at all levels who seek to learn ways to get things done with and through others, deal with workplace challenges, and prepare to take on new roles. Potential attendees need to ask themselves what’s the best way to change decision-making authorities on your team? Turns out it’s pretty easy once YOU commit to changing. This course focuses on how leaders transfer “control” of tasks over to their subordinates.
  • ACQ 0061 Independent Government Cost Estimate (IGCE) for Services asynchronous online training course is designed for all service acquisition multi-functional team members to include CORs, QA reviewers, contracting specialists, and those involved in developing and reviewing ICGEs for services acquisitions. The course description reminds us that cost estimates are necessary for government acquisition programs for many reasons: to support decisions about funding one program over another, to develop annual budget requests, to evaluate resource requirements at key decision points, and to develop performance measurement baselines. Moreover, having a realistic estimate of projected costs makes for effective resource allocation, and it increases the probability of a program's success.
