New Product Support Analysis & Assessment Site Now Available
The incremental streamlining and modernization of our Logistics Community of Practice (LOG CoP) knowledge sharing website continues apace this week with the launch this afternoon of an entirely new Product Support Analysis & Assessment site. Those of you who routinely enter via the LOG CoP homepage will immediately notice that the new Analysis & Assessment site replaces the old Acquisition Library link. Built with a graphical homepage interface, the site provides information and links to various analyses, assessments, evaluation, processes, and modeling & simulation resources for the life cycle logistician and product support manager. Specifically, it contains information and links for:
· Product Support Analysis
o Analysis of Alternatives (AoA)
o Business Case Analysis (BCA)
o O&S Cost Analysis
o RAM & RCM Analysis
o Supportability Analysis
o Sustainability Analysis
· Modeling & Simulation
o Affordable System Operational Effectiveness (ASOE)
o Defense Modeling & Simulation
o DoD Modeling & Simulation Catalog
o Product Support Process Models
o Product Support Modeling & Simulation
o Sustainment Modeling & Simulation
· Related References & Resources
o DMSMS Knowledge Sharing Portal (DKSP)
o Independent Logistics Assessments (ILA)
o Market Research
o Product Support Analytical Tools Database
o Risk Management
o Supportability Test & Evaluation
Thus far, we have now deployed six updated or new sites in support of our DoD life cycle logisticians and product support managers:
· Product Support Key References
· Product Support Manager (PSM)
· Performance Based Logistics (PBL)
Our focus throughout this streamlining and overhaul process has been on four primary objectives. First, as one of the largest communities of practice on the Acquisition Community Connection, we remain focused on our commitment to enhance the quality of our LOG CoP as a key career field knowledge repository and go-to workforce resource. Second, we recognize the need to improve accessibility and ensure your continued ability to quickly locate and retrieve content. Third, we also believe it is essential in order to enhance the professional appearance of and navigation while in the website, Fourth, this effort was an integral part of a broader initiative to standardize and align the taxonomy of a range of our learning assets (including this website) around the twelve Integrated Product Support (IPS) Elements outlined in Appendix A of the DoD Product Support Manager (PSM) Guidebook - and in the process to better integrate shared cross-functional/interdisciplinary resources and more closely align with the Life Cycle Logistics career field competency set.
As I shared in my August 28 blog post, next up is launch of the seventh and final (not to mention the most comprehensive) of the seven new LOG CoP sites, namely a new section focused on the twelve “Integrated Product Support Elements.” In the process, we will be consolidating materials from (and replacing) the current Acquisition Logistics and Sustainment sites. Four old sites (Acquisition Logistics, Sustainment, Community Connection and Acquisition Library) will be permanently taken offline as we conclude this project by deploying newly updated, streamlined LOG CoP home page. Our goal is to complete this project by the end of the month, if not sooner.
