New Videos of Data Rights Negotiation and Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)
DAU recently released videos on two topics of interest to the DoD acquisition workforce – how to successfully negotiate sufficient intellectual property and data rights and the Small Business Innovation Research Program with an emphasis on protecting technical data and computer software generated under SBIR awards.

Negotiating IP with Data Rights
This video provides a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals for successfully negotiating sufficient rights to technology deliverables, and associated licensing rights acquired under DOD procurement contracts.
A key feature of the video is the discussion of the 5 stages of negotiation, including preparation, exchange of information, bargaining, conclusion, and execution. The video concludes with a discussion of negotiating best practices for commercial computer software.
SBIR Fundamentals – Data Rights
This video presents a short overview of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. The video defines the program, how it is used, and its key purposes.
