Newly Added DAU Glossary Terms and Definitions
In preparation for the pending issuance of the new March 2023 version of the DoD Independent Logistics Assessment Guidebook, DAU, in conjunction with the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Product Support has updated the DAU Glossary of Defense Acquisition Acronyms and Terms to incorporate four new terms of interest to the logistics, product support and sustainment workforce. Along with their acronyms, these newly added glossary terms include:
- Authoritative Data Source - A recognized or official data source with a designated mission statement, source, or product to publish reliable and accurate data for subsequent use by customers. An authoritative data source may be the functional combination of multiple separate data sources. - Built-In Test (BIT) - A test approach using built-in test equipment or self-test hardware and software that is internally designed into the supported system, subsystem, or equipment to test all or a part of that system, subsystem, or equipment. - Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) - Technical manuals which are digital in form and designed for interactive display to the maintenance technicians or system operator end users by means of a computer controlled Electronic Display System (EDS). - Product Data - Data that reflects the approved, tested, and accepted configuration of the defined delivered item. The data may consist of product design data with all required associated lists, specifications, software documentation, special tooling design data, and special packaging instructions design data.
