The new January-April 2021 issue of the Defense Standardization Program Journal, focused on the topic of Parts and Material Life Cycle Management, including Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS), Parts Management, and Parts Selection, is now available.

Several articles of potential interest include information about DAU learning assets and related resources available to the defense acquisition workforce, including:
  • DoDI 4245.15: Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages” – discusses the important new DoD DMSMS policy, including an excellent depiction of the wide range of readily available DAU DMSMS/parts management learning assets (including ACQuipedia articles, communities of practice, job support tool, and training courses) (pages 5- 6)
  • DMSMS: Formal Recognition of Unparalleled Informal Collaborations" – shares DAU’s longstanding collaborative policy-process-training-workforce development focused partnership with the Defense Standardization Program Office (DSPO) in the areas of DMSMS, parts management, standards, and standardization (pages 7-10).
  • Parts Management— An Up-Front Investment with Big Payoffs” – provides insights into the importance of parts management within the Department of Defense, that includes a list of additional information and resources on the last page of the article (pages 19-24)
  • "CLCL 014 Parts and Material Lifecycle Management Credential" – outlines plans for DAU’s new parts and material management credential currently in development (pages 36-37)
