Requirements for Product Support Managers (PSM) Serving in a Key Leadership Position (KLP)

Bill Kobren

Back in November 2013 in a blog post entitled “New USD(AT&L) "Key Leadership Positions and Qualification Criteria" Memo: What Does it Mean for Product Support Managers?", I shared a few insights related to personnel assigned to Product Support Manager (PSM) positions in support of Major Defense Acquisition Programs (MDAP) and Major Automated Information System (MAIS) Acquisition Category (ACAT) I and lA) programs.

In case you were looking for the most current Key Leadership Position (KLP) implementation information, the AT&L Human Capital Initiatives (HCI) office, in conjunction with the Defense Acquisition University (DAU), has added a tab on right side of the iCatalog Certification & Core Plus Development Guides page entitled “Key Leadership Positions – Requirements and Preferences” for all functional career fields. The information posted there, which in conjunction with the November 8, 2013 USD(AT&L) memo entitled Key Leadership Positions and Qualification Criteria”, includes a section on the Product Support Manager (PSM) in a section entitled “Program Lead Logistician” on pages 15-16.

Encourage you to check it out, as well as the Product Support Manager (PSM) key references site on the Logistics Community of Practice (LOG CoP).
