Reset Policy for Web-based Distance Learning Courses
As announced on the DAU Homepage “Spotlight”, DAU will be implementing a “no-reset” test policy for its web-based distance learning courses beginning with new sections of ACQ101 and SYS101 later this month. Students in existing sections will not be impacted. “No-reset” means that if a student fails the third attempt at a distance learning end-of-course or module exam, the instructor will no longer be authorized to “reset” the student allowing them to make additional attempts. A student who fails an exam on their third attempt will be required to re-enroll according to policies established by the student’s Service or Agency Director of Acquisition Career Management (DACM), and would have to start from the beginning of the course on any subsequent attempt. In reality, this is not actually a new policy, but rather appropriate enforcement of what has actually been an existing requirement.
The DAU Help Desk can continue to assist students if they believe a failure occurred due to a technical problem. In the event of a technical problem, students can be reset and will not be penalized.
Following a 30 day trial period which is scheduled to begin in the next week or two, the “no-reset” policy will be implemented across all DAU distance learning courses in phases between June-August. For web-based life cycle logistics distance learning courses in partcular, the “no-reset” policy will ultimately affect the following logistics courses:
· LOG 101 Acquisition Logistics Fundamentals · LOG 102 Systems Sustainment Management Fundamentals · LOG 103 Reliability, Availability & Maintainability (RAM) · LOG 200 Intermediate Acquisition Logistics · LOG 204 Configuration Management · LOG 206 Intermediate Systems Sustainment · LOG 235 Performance Based Logistics
This "no-reset" policy does not apply to web-based continuous learning modules (CLMs).
