On November 8, 2023, Defense Acquisition University (DAU) introduced its CACQ-012 – International Acquisition/Security Cooperation for Program Managers credential. This credential is designed to empower Program Managers with the skills and knowledge necessary to proficiently plan and execute International Acquisition and Exportability (IA&E) activities. By doing so, it aims to enhance acquisition outcomes, both for the Department of Defense (DoD) and its international partners, aligning with the objectives of the National Defense Strategy.

CACQ-012 is not exclusive to Program Managers alone; it is open to professionals in various acquisition Functional Areas, including those who are part of the DoD Security Cooperation Workforce (SCW) and other DoD personnel involved in program/project-level IA&E planning and management.

The credential program comprises two online training courses, culminating in a 20-question capstone exam:

• INT 1110 International Acquisition/Security Cooperation Foundation: This online training course equips students with the knowledge and skills required to apply U.S. Government (USG) and DoD IA&E concepts and policies. It explores the dynamics involved in establishing various DoD international acquisition transactions throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
• INT 2110 International Acquisition/Security Cooperation Program Management: This online course delves into higher-level IA&E best practices, as applied by DoD Program Management Office (PMO) and Integrated Product Team (IPT) organizations. It empowers students to apply their knowledge of DoD IA&E and DoD Security Cooperation concepts throughout the acquisition lifecycle.

This credential offers foundational knowledge and valuable takeaways for Program Managers in the following key areas:

1. Understanding USG and DoD IA&E objectives, scope, and overarching policies.
2. Utilizing the DoD framework for program-level IA&E planning and analysis.
3. Navigating international acquisition program forms and transaction types.
4. Tackling IA&E challenges and seizing opportunities across the acquisition lifecycle.
5. Implementing Program Management Organization best practices.
