Veterans Day 2012
On this, the 94th anniversary of what was once called Armistice Day, signifying the official end to hostilities in the First World War, indulge me for a moment as I first offer my humble, heartfelt, and sincere thanks to the men and women currently serving in harm's way around the globe. In so doing, please accept our gratitude and appreciation for your continued service, sacrifice, and dedication. To those of you in the defense acquisition workforce, whether you are military, civilian, or support contractor, I would ask you to take a moment to not only take the time to acknowledge those those who wear the uniform, but to also commit to redoubling our efforts in developing, fielding, and supporting the very best and most cost-effective equipment and product support strategies we possibly can. In many respects, that is one of the most important ways we can truly thank our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines for their continued service to our nation.
