Virtual Instructor-Led Version of LOG 201 on the Horizon

Karla K. O'Connor
As your learning partner, the DAU life cycle logistics team continues to be with you in the classroom, online, and in your workplace — whenever and wherever you need. As part of our effort to better support your professional development, we will be conducting a pilot this coming fall to test an entirely new delivery option of our LOG 201 Product Support Strategy Development, Part B course in what we call a virtual instructor-led training (VILT) environment. VILT will essentially be a webinar, a live presentation during which students can submit questions and comments via chat. Unlike the traditional classroom version of the course, students work remotely from their workplace, instead of at a DAU campus, to complete the standard course content.

When deployed, LOG 201 VILT lessons will consist of slides, readings, and videos. The exams and team exercises will be the same as the ones administered in the classroom course. After completing out-of-class assignments, students will meet via their computer (WebEx.com) for presentations and group discussions with the instructor for an estimated 4-5 hours per instructional day. The instructor will also be available by phone or email during published office hours to answer questions.

Stay tuned to hear the results of the pilot, and if all goes well, for VILT offerings of LOG 201 later in FY20. Once deployed, note that future VILT offerings would supplement, rather than replace scheduled classroom offerings of LOG 201.
