White House Announces Assistant Secretary of Defense for Logistics and Materiel Readiness Nominee
The White House announced last Friday President Obama’s intent to nominate Alan Estevez as Assistant Secretary of Defense (Logistics and Materiel Readiness). Mr Estevez currently serves as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Logistics and Materiel Readiness. According to his official biography, Mr. Estevez has served in that capacity since November 2006 and has performed the duties of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Logistics & Materiel Readiness) position since April 2009.
Mr Estevez has been strong proponent of a wide range of vitally important initiatives aimed at improving logistics support to U.S. forces, including life cycle management, radio frequency identification, item unique identification, and supply chain management, as well as a variety of other key logistics and product support initiatives outlined in the July 2010 DoD Logistics Strategic Plan, and the November 2009 Weapon System Acquisition Reform (WSAR) Product Support Assessment. And he is also a graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF)!
