DoD, GSA, and NASA are issuing a final rule amending the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) to require contractors and subcontractors to report to the Government-Industry Data Exchange Program certain counterfeit or suspect counterfeit parts and certain major or critical nonconformances.
GIDEP FAR Rule was published Nov 22, 2019 in the Federal Register and is effective December 23, 2019. Required in: contracts for items containing electronics; contracts that include critical safety items; or contracts with higher level quality assurance. Contract clause requires reporting non-conforming or suspect counterfeit items to GIDEP and screening of the GIDEP database for alerts of reported items to prevent incorporation of those items on the production line.
