Mr. Tibbetts: In an effort to help stem the pest and invasive plant infestations we have seen over the last few years with particular reference to containers, we have reached out to our Transportation Engineering Agency (TEA) as well as industry to see what is available to place containers on stands to safely inspect and wash-down the undersides of containers, where most infestations seem to come from, because of the difficulty/inability of customers to inspect the undersides of containers. I would be interested to see how everyone else satisfies this requirement. Please advise.
We have used MILVAN Repair, and Inspection stands, very similar to the ones that you posted.
One can treat inside of ISO Containers with 98% DOT also known as Boron available from American Boron. Boron is considered non-toixic to humans, plants and animals and readily disolves in water (Mix 2 pounds of Boron to 1 gallon of water) then fog or use paint roller or brush for applicable) use proper PP&E such as plastic face sheild and goggles, gloves and mask and don't ingest or get into your eyes. One can purchase 25 pound drums of 98% DOT (Boron). After applicable it will dry and may leave a small amount of white residue which is for the most part not seen when drys. It also acts as a wood preservative which is great for the inside of an ISO Container and Wooden Boxes; however, it's soluable in water so when it rains it washes off over time. Also, Boron kills insects to include termites and Chinese Long Horn Beetle and nematoes. So an excellent product which is sold under various copywrited names to just add cost. However, American Boron is the wholesaler so sells by the truck load in bulk but, can refer one to local distributors. The best solution would be to fog Ammunition Storage Magazines to include Ammunition Holding Area, BLAHAs, ASP Storage magazines and Depot Storage Magazines then paint the wall of those bunkers with a Mold Inhibitor paint. There are mutated forms of mold which are drug resistant and are resulting in death and other forms which cause cancer. Then there are the invasive forms of insects which can destroy wood. So this is a problem which needs to be addressed. The 25 pound drums of 98% DOT are less than $100 and foggers cost less than $200 and 2 gallons can fog a large storage bunker verses 100s of Millions of dollars of moldy ammo and sick or dying workers and soliders who are being exposed to insects and mold fungus.
Also, one can pre-clean ISO Container with a pressure washer using water and 30 second cleaner which the main ingredient is bleach but seems to work much better than just using the bleach. However, it cleans the mold stain but, doesn't kill the mold spores or the mold unless you subsequently apply the boron. And bleach is considered toxic so requires more precaustoins.
Good Luck dealing with invasive planst such as Kudzu.... Most cattle can't eat it because it causes them so much gas. But, Goats sure love it and digest it very well. Some cuts of Goat meat can sell foir over $20 and Eastern Europeans, Middle Easteerns and Hispanic People absolutely love goast meat and eat it almost daily. So Military installations in Southern States miught want to turn loose herdes of good meat goats - Bon Apetit....
Also, do a web search about Kudzu and one will find there's all kinds of food and herbal products one can make and even use the vines to weave baskets. In ASIA you'll find they love the stuff and use it for everything.
try 21-mule team borax - borax and boron are almost the same things and both kill the mold but, 21-mule team borax containers filler which might clog up your fogger.
There's a drawing for fabrication of the ISO Container Stands.... so one can pressure wash the undersides of the ISO Containers and conduct inspections
