EXPENDED LUNCH TUBES

When processing residue documents through SAAS that contain expended lunch tubes (CX01), are the expended tubes required to be brought to record or does the document simply gets cleared through document reconciliation? My questions arised from reading DA Pam 700-16 para 10-32 and from expended CAT I items guidance used prior to SCP 11. Thanks!

Eddy, These are one of the problems that arise from the new SCP 11. The short version is the CX01 is brought onto the record and turned in as residue to DLA-Dispositions using DD Form 1348-1A.  Perform DEMIL IAW the local SOP/DEMIL Code, and Inert certification requiring dual signatures (certifier, verifier).  Let me know if you need anything.

Eddy, yes you must add them with the expended NSN, which in this case lists DODIC as CX01, and the SN.  It is then either locally demiled or turned in to DLA-DS.  But typically, DLA-DS will require them to be demiled before turn-in. In the past, we have issued them for demil and locally demiled the item.  This helps to track the items from cradle to grave. It allows for the automated reporting to the appropriate agencies.

Failure to utilze the systems as designed for cradle to grave tracking as led to extensive lists of dropped SN (loss of cradle-to-grave tracking) in WARS.  Back in 2012, we had to research over 15 years of dropped SN. Hopefully, with SCP-11 and a standardized residue listing the problems with residue tracking will be eleviated.
