Composite Pump Impellers

The proposed project will evaluate new fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite pump impellers for improved resistance to corrosion, erosion and cavitation in marine environments compared to traditional metal impellers. The saltwater pumps used for cooling and fire protection at Pearl Harbor will be used as the platform for evaluation.
