F-22 Coatings Outdoor Environmental Exposure Testing

The objective of this project is to collect corrosion rate data at various F-22 operating locations. To this end, the team will install outdoor exposure test stands at Kadena AB, Tyndall AFB, Langley AFB, Nellis AFB and to perform a three year test program to evaluate the amount of corrosion sustained on prepared test panels that simulate the F-22 aircraft structure protected with the outer mold line (OML) organic coating stack up.
