This webinar will include an explanation and demonstration of the proposed COTS checklist and provide attendees the opportunity to learn and ask questions about this valuable resource supporting parts evaluation and management.
Even though Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) assemblies are becoming more common in defense systems, there are no standard procedures used by the parts management community (both Industry and Government) to select COTS assemblies. To address this problem, the DoD Parts Management Working Group formed a Strategic Objective team to examine the problems associated with choosing and using electronic COTS assemblies and to evaluate implementing common procedures for selecting electronic COTS assemblies throughout the entire program lifecycle. Over a two-year period, this Team has successfully researched and developed a checklist for selecting electronic COTS assemblies for use in safety critical or mission critical Aerospace, Defense, High Performance, and Space applications. This checklist has undergone peer review and is scheduled to be rolled out in late 2021.
