This Community serves as a platform to connect practitioners involved with Government property across multiple career fields and offers them a chance to talk, share, and acquire knowledge about key topics related to Government property. With over $100 billion worth of Government property in the possession of Department of Defense contractors, Government property impacts the development and fielding of virtually every major weapon system platform today. It is hoped that this Community will help you learn and understand more about the critical acquisition field of Industrial Contract Property Management.

This career field includes the industrial property management specialist, property administrator, industrial plant clearance specialist, and plant clearance officer. Individuals in this career field perform Government contract property oversight and surveillance of life-cycle processes and their commensurate outcomes for Government-owned property in the possession of contractors. This includes developing policies and procedures for contract property; providing guidance, counsel, and direction to Government and contractor managers and technicians relating to regulatory and contractual requirements for managing Government property; participating in pre-award surveys and post-award reviews; reviewing contracts assigned for property administration; evaluating a contractor’s property management system; and developing and applying property systems analysis programs to assess the effectiveness of contractors’ Government property management systems. Functions within this career field are performed by the contracting officer when contract property management responsibilities are not delegated.
