| Product Support Business Case Analysis - need help! I have been tasked with compiling a Product Support Business Case Analysis for 2 newly awarded projects (CONUS and USAFE FSS) and I am at a loss of what information I need to complete the PSBCA profile as seen in the "DoD PSBCA Guidebook (Rel. 2011)" Goal is to determine whether this should be a single contract award to one RFP rather than 2. I've never done this before, despite my project management background So I'm starting with this outline: The DoD Product Support BCA outline represents the standardized DoD Product Support BCA report. The outline of the DoD Product Support BCA is as follows: - Executive Summary
- Introduction
- Desired Outcomes and Requirements
- Assumptions and Methods
- Alternatives
- Mission and Business Impacts
- Risk Analysis and Mitigation Plans
- Sensitivity Analysis
- Conclusion
- Recommendations
I'm trying to match up information but haven't many clues what to do. Any direction would be most appreciated; also please translate any standard program abbreviations! Thank you all in advance |

| You're not using a PS BCA the way I am accustomed to - I am used to seeing it used to support a recommendation for how to support a product - i.e. a sustainment strategy. Deciding a contract award strategy - 1 or 2 contracts seems to be a standard pro/con exercise of which cost would be one factor...but not warranting completing a full PS BCA. |

| There are a couple things I would look at for kicking off this study, first is to think about this as an argumentative document. You are looking at all the different options for how to support this equipment. Know you are proving to your leadership you have considered all the options and are leading them in the right direction. Talk about the COA's strengths and weekness and from that argue for an educated decision on your path forward. You are arguing for your recommended coarse of actionn. In order to do that you will need to figure out what success is for your program for all your stakeholders. Then you need to figure out what the different paths are to that success. Then you need to start to identify the data you will need to support solid decision making and who the stakeholders are that help collect that information. I think you are asking a bit about what is behind the words in the guides. Feel free to give me a call to talk about this in more depth. Kadee DAU South 256-922-8736

| Hi again - it's Joanne. First, thank you for the replies. So now my issue involves seeking a template or an example for the PSBCA, based on the DoD Product Support Business Case Analysis Guidebook Release: 2011. At this time, I'd like to find a current document structured based on this guidebook - or - a template. I have the instructions and sources of what I need; but I am short on time and now need examples or templates in which I can plug in with hyperlinks to SharePoint referring to where I found the source info. Sorry so vague before; however, I did not get much in the way of examples to see what was expected. Thanking you in advance - Joanne Shull |
