2008 PBL Award Winner Announcement Memo
This memo announces the 2008 Secretary of Defense Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) Awards selections. PBL is the DoD strategy to improve weapon system readiness by purchasing weapon system sustainment as an integrated package based on output measures, The Secretary of Defense PBL Awards recognize government/industry teams that have demonstrated outstanding achievements in providing our Warfighters with exceptional operational capability through performance based product support arrangements. The 2008 winners are: • System Level: F-22 Raptor - USAF • Sub-system Level: ALR-67(v)3 Radar Warning System - USN • Component Level: AN/TSQ-221 Tactical Airspace Integration System - USA To enhance PBL awareness and encourage PBL excellence, the Department instituted the annual PBL Awards Program in 2005. The annual Secretary of Defense PBL Awards recognize successful PBL programs at the system, subsystem, and component level, and also promotes the benefits of implementing effective outcome based product support strategies.
