Product Support for the 21st Century - A Program Managers Guide to Buying Performance DTD Nov 01

Note: This document is posted as a historical reference. This guide presented a performance-based logistics (PBL) strategy for product support of weapon systems. The guide was designed as a tool for program managers as they design product support strategies for new programs or major modifications, or as they reengineered product support strategies for legacy weapon systems. PBL delineates outcome performance goals of weapon systems, ensures that responsibilities are assigned, provides incentives for attaining these goals, and facilitates the overall life-cycle management of system reliability, supportability, and total ownership costs. It is an integrated acquisition and logistics process for buying weapon system capability.
