Hello,

When a replacement program/system ("System-B") is developed to replace another program/system ("System-A"), and using the "do no harm" contruct, should not Systems-A APs or KPPs be used to inform System-B's APs, KPP's, etc.? Any advice or or guidance is appreicated.

The Requirements Managers' Community of Practice has a library of tools to help you, the Requirements Manager, be more productive and efficient. For example, there is a Capabilities Development Document (CDD) template to help you quickly organize and prepare this important document. Other tools are available at both the DoD and Service level. You can find them by going to the Requirements Job Support Tools (JSTs) tile on the home page of this community of practice.

If you need help with a JST, or need assistance beyond what the JSTs provide, you can reach out to us, the DAU Requirements Management faculty. You can find our contact information by clicking on the Training and Consulting tile on the front page (next to the JST tile).

Good afternoon, our team is exploring the creation of a Requirements Team. To aid in that process we would like to know what types of Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) members have established in planning for personnel or in establishing their own requirements processes.

For those DoD RMs who seek programmatic information on DoD acquisitions, last Friday DoD retired the Defense Acquisition Management Information Repository (DAMIR) and now relies on the Defense Acquisition Visibiltiy Environment (DAVE) to provide DAMIR capabilities.  For those of you not familiar with DAMIR and DAVE, DAMIR has been the go-to tool for SAR, DAES, and APB reporting.  DAVE includes many other capabilities to include the Acquisition Information Repository (AIR), a repository for acquisition documentation (e.g., Acquisition Strategies and ADMs), Middle Tier of Acquisition (MTA) data, and links to other acquisition-related systems.  Also, OASD(A) reports that SIPR DAVE will go online toward the end of October.  NOTE:  All data posted naturally depends on the date of the last submittals - double-check with your program office contacts to obtain the latest information.  If you have any questions, email me at jack.mohney@dau.edu.

DAU can help with specific issues you may be facing. For example, DAU Requirements Management faculty had a one-on-one consulting engagement with requirements managers trying to address operational capability gaps. The outcome: the Requirements Managers now have a clearer path forward to capture and validate operational capability gaps within and across Services, saving the Requirements Managers valuable time and effort.

If DAU's expertise and experience can help you, the Requirements Manager, address an issue or problem more efficiently, or if you are just looking for sage advice, contact the DAU Requirements Department for consulting support. You can contact us by going to the Requirements Management Community of Practice (RMCOP) home page and clicking on the Training and Consulting tile. Or, you can get in touch with the RMCoP owner and DAU faculty member, Jack Mohney, via email (jack.mohney@dau.edu).

Let's contineu working together to support the warfighter.

The DAU Requirements Faculty provides consulting support to help Requirements Managers address specific challenges. For example, in one consulting event, DAU Requirements Faculty facilitated a Service-level discussion with Requirements Managers on Best Practices. The results included building networking between Requirements Managers and with the DAU faculty for capacity to collaborate on future requirements challenges. If you want to take advantage of DAU faculty expertise to help you address an issue you have, or to improve your effectiveness as a Requirements Manager, go to the Training & Consulting tile on the Requirements Management Community of Practice (RMCoP) home page.

I am a capabilities integration officer at CDD an currently taking RQM 110 and I am fairly new to this process.

Our Program of Record is an Accelerated Acquisition Program. I have a general question regarding IOC. In the Misspelled WordDoDI, IOC is defined when "the appropriate operational authority declares IOC when the defined operational organization has been equipped and trained and is determined to be capable of conducting mission operations." (Misspelled WordDoDI 5000.85)

My question is who typically is the operational authority? (Program Manager, Requirements Manager, Misspelled Wordetc) and how does one determine what the organization size? (single unit, Region, or Fleet?)  Does anyone have a Misspelled Wordvignette or IOC language from their Program of Record you can share?Misspelled Word Thank you in advance.

The USSOCOM acquistion staff is redoing their governing directive and has added a new requirements document type called a "Capabilty Needs Statement".  This CNS is part of the agile acquisition framework - the software acquistion pathway.   i am told that these documents have to be loaded into KMDS when approved.  I tried to find a format - but was unsuccessful.  Does anyone have anything more on this CNS?  Thanks .  Liesel Muth, USSOCOM/J6

Is anyone aware whether DOD has an appoved RM tool available to manage requirememts? I would have thought perhaps JS J8 might have had something... but beems some use spreadsheets, some use a unique proprietary solution, and some all over the place, etc. I am looking for an RM tool approved for various DOD nets and thats tailorable. As it stands now I am thinking I will simply use SharePoint, build forms, workflows, etc. Any advice or guidance is appreciated.

Hello RMs!  A quick heads up.  I've been updating the RMCoP content as well as improving the look & feel of the site.  In essence, I've been simplifying what the techies term "user interface/user experience" or UI/UX.  Regardless of the jargon, I'm striving to make it easier for the DoD RM to access the information and tools they need to do their job.  Well, to do this properly, I could use your help - what we call "Voice of the Customer" around these parts.  I ask that you cruise around the site and email me directly (jack.mohney@dau.mil) or even call me at 703-805-4369 with any suggestions, new content, & such - anything to help others in our RM community.  Thanks...
