This process planning tool is a click-through animated presentation designed to help acquisition professionals better understand and plan for the defense acquisition process using the systems engineering V model. Although the tool was developed with Department of Defense program office engineers and program managers in mind, anyone with an interest in a deeper understanding of defense acquisition should benefit. This tool demonstrates how the eight technical processes of the systems engineering V model drive tailoring of the DoDI 5000.02 Hardware Intensive Program model, going from needs to solutions.

For the last few years I've been hearing how more and more and more of DoD acquisition programs involve software. I would guess that likewise, more and more programs are becoming "software-dominant". Yet the generic acquisition model used in the DoD/DAU literature and training materials still seems to assume the program delivers a hardware-dominant system. I'm wondering whether the "default" acquisition model as presented in the DAG and DAU material needs to be made a little more generic. In particular, I wonder whether "Engineering and Manufacturing Development" could be re-worded to something like "Engineering and Production Preparation" or something just to take the sort of mass manufacturing implication out. I'm not saying there's something wrong with Model 1 for a program that's delivering 1500 aircraft, but it just gets confusing when that's the model I see all the time in the DAG and DAU material.

I sure don't claim any sort of guru status here but am curious at to what other people think.

I'm researching perspectives of LAB S&T managers to see how they utilize SE processes (WBS/Structure, Risk, Schedules, Funding, Requirements, Stakeholder Analysis, Transition, and much more) .  I'm the DAU Course Manager for STM 203 and we are redoing it.  I'd like to hear from all Services/Agencies who are coded STM and learn what workshops and modules should be developed to support you in your daily work.​

Hello. I'm a project scheduler on a project currently in the process of conducting a CBA. I'm doing research to elaborate future tasking in the schedule and looking for any resources that align the DoDAF viewpoints to the applicable SETR events when they are developed. 

I have already found some references, but most are not updated to the 2.02. I'm trying to map out a matrix, similar to Table D-1 in NAVSEA Technical Review Manual, in an incremental development process; P - preliminary, D - draft, U - update, F - Final.

If anyone has any additional resources, it would be greatly appreciated.
