DoDD 5134.09 Missile Defense Agency MDA

DoD Directive 5134.09, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), 17 Sep 2009. NOTE: AS OF JULY 2018, MISSILE DEFENSE AGENCY REPORTS TO USD(R&E) SINCE USD(AT&L) WAS DISESTABLISHED. THE DIRECTIVE DOESN'T YET REFLECT THIS. MDA is a Defense Agency, under the authority, direction, and control of the USD(AT&L), consistent with DoDD 5134.01, "Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics (USD(AT&L))," 9 Dec 2005. It shall consist of a Director and subordinate organizational elements established by the Director, within resources assigned by the Secretary of Defense. For current information, please see MDA's web site: http://www.mda.mil/ This Directive, in accordance with the authority vested in the Secretary of Defense by section 113 and chapter 8 of title 10, United States Code (U.S.C.), and consistent with Secretary of Defense Memorandum, "Missile Defense Program Direction," 2 Jan 2002, and Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics (USD(AT&L)) Memorandum, "Ballistic Missile Defense Program Implementation Guidance," 13 Feb 2002: a. Reissues DoD Directive (DoDD) 5134.9 of the same name (9 Oct 2004, hereby canx) to reflect establishment of the Missile Defense Executive Board (MDEB) and the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) Life Cycle Management Process consistent with Deputy Secretary of Defense Memorandums, "Missile Defense Executive Board (MDEB)," 15 Mar 2007, and "Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) Life Cycle Management Process," 25 Sep 2008. b. Supersedes and cancels USD(AT&L) Memorandum, "Missile Defense Support Group," 13 Feb 2002 (hereby canx). The MDEB structure replaces the previous OSD review, guidance, and approval processes including the Missile Defense Support Group.
