Are you ready to transform the way you approach software development and acquisition in the Department of Defense? The Agile for DoD Acquisition Team Members is a comprehensive course designed to immerse you in the world of Agile, exploring why software is crucial to modern defense initiatives and how policies like the 5000.87 mandate support the shift to contemporary software practices. This course begins by laying out the foundational principles of Agile, highlighting its core benefits, and examining how adopting an agile mindset can help overcome the traditional cultural challenges within the DoD. You'll gain an understanding of modern software approaches, including Design Thinking, Lean, Agile, and DevSecOps, and learn how they contribute to more responsive and effective development processes.

Throughout the course, you’ll delve into common Agile practices like Scrum and Kanban, as well as scaled Agile frameworks that accommodate larger and more complex projects. We’ll explore how Agile teams handle requirements through user stories and personas, providing a closer connection to the end users’ needs. You'll learn practical techniques for estimating product backlog items, which ensures that work is appropriately prioritized and managed. Key Agile metrics and measures will be discussed to help you monitor and control project progress effectively.

The course also covers planning for agile acquisition, emphasizing iterative and incremental delivery to respond to changing needs and environments. Finally, we’ll tackle the unique challenges associated with testing within the DoD context, focusing on strategies to ensure robust and reliable products.
