Introduction to Shipping Food Aid Cargoes by Sea

This Online Training (OLT) micro-course provides a basic explanation of ocean transportation as it relates to Humanitarian and Disaster Assistance (HADR) food aid programs. It discusses the actions of the Federal Agencies that manage this transportation and describes the U.S.-flag vessel use requirement for 50% of such cargo, as required by U.S. law.

U.S. Government contracting officers, suppliers, shippers, freight forwarders, and others interested in the regulations related to transportation of U.S. government Food Aid by sea

NOTES

Recommended Prerequisites:
  • CLC 038 World of Ocean Trans & Cargo Preference
  • CLC 049 Introduction to Military Cargo and Transportation of Supplies by Sea
  • CLC 053 Introduction to Transportation of Government Non-Food Aid Cargo by Sea
Additional Notes:
  • Any exams in this course must be passed with a minimum score of 80%.
  • There is no time limit for completing this course.
  • After completing the course, please be sure to complete the survey at the end.
  • Since this course is less than 30 minutes, no CLPs are assigned. To receive CLP credit, students should bundle the completion of this and similar courses together and apply to their supervisor for CLP approval.
